DRI Ph Holds 1st Interdepartment Sportsfest

Pasig, Philippines – Digital Room Ph employees and family members recently participated in a show of interdepartmental teamwork and competition in the first ever DRI PH Sportsfest. The event was held over two days, from July 5-6, at the Kapitolyo Amphitheater in Pasig.

Employees from all departments were grouped into four colorfully named teams: The Red Bullies, Green Dragons, Yellow Hornets, and Blue Busters. The four interdepartmental teams competed in basketball, volleyball, and badminton – among many other games.

The event started with a mini-pageant, where the teams pitted their respective Muses against each other, with the Yellow Hornets’ April Calderon emerging as the winner, winning P2,000 worth of GC’s.

The most anticipated events were arguably basketball, volleyball and cheering. The Yellow Hornets emerged as the overall champion for basketball – foretelling their eventual victory in the overall rankings. The Red Bullies got the top spot for the highly contested cheering competition. But cheers may not have been enough as they fell to dead last in the overall rankings.

The Blue Busters were the last ones left standing in both Badminton and Volleyball events, securing them the edge over the Green Dragons in a neck-and-neck struggle for second place.

All teams managed to hold first place wins in All Star, 3 Points, and Parlor Games 1 and 2. However, it was the Yellow Hornets’ stinging victory at the dartboards that gave them the two crucial points they needed to win over the Blue Busters in the overall rankings.

Catering was provided by Three Sisters restaurant in Pasig. In a minor tragedy, dozens of packed lunches went unclaimed, as participation tailed off during the second day.

On the first DRI Sportsfest, Carolyn Abedania from DRI’s Marketing department says “Masaya. Nagbond yun different departments. Different teams got closer. And also, nakita yung sports skills ng mga employees.”

The first Digital Room PH Sportsfest comes on the heels of recent efforts to unify and strengthen the Manila office’s identity, to keep up with the massive growth experienced by the Digital Room family here and abroad.

Other recent attempts in this vein include the DRI Newsletter Naming Contest, and the DRI Core Values Contest.
